Boston-Cape Cod-Maine

we are planning a holiday in July - 3 nights in Boston, a week in Chatham and then we have 5 or so nights at the end of our holiday. we are a family of 4 with 2 boys aged 18 and 14. We would like to rent a house or self catering unit somewhere pretty - I realise we may not be able to get a 5 day rental - so maybe a hotel would work out cheaper for us. Could anybody suggest some nice ideas for the end of the holiday. We will have a rental vehicle. We love quaint towns with character, shopping, nice food and just having relaxing.

Hi biancat,

Again, running out the door but wanted to make sure your post was bumped up with hopes you%26#39;ll receive some replies. Will write more when I have the time.

Good luck :).

Thanks Cosy. Much appreciated.

Chatham being the town of choice for character, I would head for Hyannis (close to everything) and close enough to drive to places that take your fancy. The drive from Boston to the Cape isn%26#39;t bad, we did it on Labor Weekend and it was fine, we were glad we picked the area surrounding Hyannis as it was so close to everything.

Hi,

I see you posted in Portland, Maine forum. I assume you may be looking for places outside of Massachusetts to travel to for last part of your vacation. Check out Southern area of Maine.

Here is a travel list I created for the area:

I bet York, Ogunquit or Kennebunkport would be perfect for you. There are lots of hotels, inns in this area.

Ogunquit%26#39;s Chamber website is useful for lodging info, dining, etc...

Enjoy your trip to the States!

I work in Boston, so please let me know if you have any Boston questions.
