Traveling from North carolina, where would be best to fly, Portland or Boston?

Also, I am on a budget, suggestons of a place to stay. It is my daughter and myself

The closest airport (about a 70-minute drive) is Bangor; Portland is approximately a 3-hour drive; Boston, 5 hours and change. So basically it is a balancing act between airline fares and auto rental/drive time considerations. Manchester, NH often has very reasonable fares, I hear; the drive time probably would be close to that from Boston.

We do everything we can to avoid Logan (Boston).
