Machias/cutler lodging

Hi - We are looking to be in the Machias/Cutler area for two nights in early July. Can anyone recommend lodging?

thanks

Machias/cutler lodging

What are you looking for, a regular hotel/motel or a B%26amp;B type. There are 4 hotel/motels in the greater Machias area, a somewhat upcale ';Inn'; and several B%26amp;B%26#39;s in the area. There are also several cottages for rent but you will probably not be able to rent one for just two nights.

If you were looking for a decent regular hotel/motel I would recommend the Machias Motor Inn. It seems to be our most popular and it is the newest and overall best in my opinion. (Note I have only stayed there once since I live nearby) It is nothing fancy by any means but is clean and within walking distance to two nice restaraunts, a 24hr convenience store, and a couple of fast food places. In the summer time the ';no vacancy'; sign is often lit so you would probably want to make reservations before hand.

Just to save you a moment if you should so desire here is the number 207-255-4861 and a link to their website. http://www.machiasmotorinn.com/

If you were looking for a B%26amp;B there are probably 5 or 6 in the area and I cant really recommend a specific one other than saying I have heard good things about the Riverside B%26amp;B in East Machias.

Machias/cutler lodging

Try looking in Prospect Harbor, I know there are B%26amp;B%26#39;s, Mermaids Purse Farm B%26amp;B and there are a couple of other B%26amp;B%26#39;s, also a place called Alberts Meadow oceanfront cottages.

I doubt if you find anything in Cutler, very small village, I rented a house when I stayed there.

Good luck and have fun!!

If the Machias/Cutler area is a specific set destination for you then Prospect Harbor would be a little bit far away, about an hour from Machias 1 1/2 from Cutler.

Did you find a place to stay in the Machias/Cutler area? We are going in August and I am looking for a nice place to stay there.

nec what are you looking for as far as lodging, regular motel, B%26amp;B, cottage? There are not really a lot of options in the area. August is by far the busiest month and any cottage or cabin rentals will be fully booked so that pretty much rules that out. If you happen to be coming the third weekend in August that is during the Blueberry festival and finding lodging will be difficult if not impossible unless you book ahead. Respond with what you need for lodging and I would be happy to help you out.

Preferably an inn or B %26amp; B. We will be there before the blueberry festival. I have heard of a couple of places - Captain Cates and the Blue Butterfly Inn. Are you familiar with either of these or have any other suggestions?

I am familiar with the Captain Cates not because I have stayed there but because I knew the previous owners and stopped by for a short visit a couple times. The house itself is pretty nice but the location is not all that great in my opinion. It is a ways out of town and though it is near the water it is not a very pretty area. I had never heard of the Blue Butterfly before but just looked it up. Here is a link to the areas Chamber of Commerce Accomodations page which contains both of the above and many others. Also from here you can explore the rest of the chambers info on the area.

I have been hearing really good things about the ';Inn at Schoppee Farm since its opening a year or so ago. The location is great, right in town close to everything, yet far enough off the main road and on the hill overlooking the river. I think it is probably a bit more expensive then most of the other B%26amp;B type places though.

If you have trouble finding a B%26amp;B then the best motel type lodging (even though it is called an ';Inn';) is the Machias Motor Inn.

I just got back from Maine last night. We stayed part of our time in Machias, actually East Machias at the Riverside Inn. My girlfriend and I went on the Puffin Tour out of Cutler, that%26#39;s only about 20 minutes away. The Inn is a nice place, rooms are nice, scenery is beautiful and the price (around $100 a night) seemed very fair. I would stay there again. It%26#39;s about a 3 minute drive to to the center of Machias (not a big place, but does have some shops and places to eat)
