We will be staying in Searsport for a week at the end of June with our 3 children (ages 9, 11, 13) Any suggestions for sightseeing in the area?
Fun family activities for trip to Searsport in June
Head over to the new Penobscot Narrows Bridge. It will be about a 30 minute drive from Searsport. The bridge has an observation tower (the only one in the U.S.) and you can take an elevator to the top. The bridge is located next to Ft. Knox. There is an old stone fort that the kids can explore. It has dark tunnels and old prison cells that they will enjoy exploring. It%26#39;s also a nice picnic location so you can bring your lunches if it%26#39;s a nice day.
You could also drive about an hour or so and find yourself in Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. There are endless activities here for your children - hiking, biking, kayaking, whale watching, etc . . . Since you%26#39;re going to be so close, I would spend a day here.
There%26#39;s a children%26#39;s museum in Bangor, ME, but your kids may be too old to find it much fun. My 8 year old gets bored there.
Belfast is a nice Maine harbor town. You can look into activities there. It%26#39;s not far from Searsport.
