Hi, I am now considering some shopping while in Bar harbor and was wondering if there are quaint shops that sell local wood carvers stuff. I am a serious collector of wood hand carved Santas especially the old looking ones. I also collect Halloween memorabilia and reproductions of Halloween stuff. All you locals would would know about this. I also like collectable shops in general. Wow, that was a mouthful but it seems really neat to know about these places before you go. Thanks, Semitegal. P.S we will be traveling up to Rockland also so any hints along the way?
shopping in Bar Harbor or Neighboring towns
There is a Christmas ornament shop on Main Street across from Cottage Street that sells hand carved wooden Santas. They are really nice, but also really expensive.
There is another store called the Bar Harbor Country Store on Main Street that will have some Halloween stuff. They have these great gourds that are hallowed out and painted as witches and other halloween characters.
Have fun shopping.

The best and truly hand-carved Santas in Bar Harbor are sold at a new pet store in town, Walkin%26#39; The Dog. The husband of the owner of the shop is the man who carves the Santas. They really are quite something. You can see some of them at the web site: http://walkinthedogbarharbor.com/ Look under the category Pet Approved Gifts.
Hi Bonniemaey, What an excellent post. What great local info. Thanks for taking the time, I will for sure visit the store and pick up something for my goldies as well. Again, thanks, Semitegal
