suggestion for ';don't miss'; spots on Boston to Rockland

Hi, I will be traveling from Boston to Rockland. We plan on spending the day for the drive but I would love some suggestions about places to see, great ocean views mostly, on the trip.(not much ocean in Iowa) When should I be on 95 and when should I stick to 1??? Thanks for any help-
