Things to do or see in Portland

My husband and I (mid 40s)are spending the weekend (Oct. 10-12) in Portland and we%26#39;re looking for ideas of things that are a must-see while we are there. What should we expect weatherwise while we are there too?

Thanks.

Definitely bring warm clothes. It will probably be in the 40s or possibly lower at night, up to 60s during the day -- or of course it could be completely different! The weather in Maine is unpredictable but is definitely pretty chilly by mid-October. Dressing in layers is the best strategy.

The Portland Museum of Art is a wonderful small museum with a fine collection, well worth a visit.

You might want to take a ride on the Casco Bay ferry to Peak%26#39;s Island or another of the islands near the city.

Strolling around the Old Port is also very nice. It%26#39;s a fun, lively urban neighborhood with terrific architecture and great shops and restaurants.

If you have a car, go see Portland Head Light.

The Portland Stage is an excellent small professional theater in town. You might want to check out their current offering on the internet and consider taking in the play.

Have a great visit!

If you like to drink, you have hot pay dirt.

On another note, going to see the rocky coast is a must.LL Bean in freeport(1/2 hour ride), Ferry ride to Peaks Island, Duck Boat Tour. This is a very nice town, too small to be called a city and it depends on what you like to do, but there isn%26#39;t a ton to do.

THANK you both so much for the information. We appreciate it. Thanks again.
