My Husband and I are going there at this time. We love to do outdoorsy things, but it seems all the kayak tours stop going out the end of October. We would love to see some seals and puffins, as well as wildlife in Acadia. How can we go about doing this during this time of the year? Can you recommend some companies that still go out in the water, or awesome trails that will be open in Acadia?
Thanks for any help you can give.
If you still have some time--what are some good restaurants that would be open? Cute shops?
Bar Harbor vacation the third week in November?
I don%26#39;t think there are any boats that will be going out of Bar Harbor in November. You could take the mail boat over to the Cranberry Islands just to get out on the water. I don%26#39;t think the puffins are around here at that time anyway. I think May is best for puffin tours.
The Park Loop Road in Acadia closes down most of the loop around November 15. You can still access the coastal section and some of the trail heads. There are also many trail heads that begin along roads other than the Loop Road so you%26#39;ll have no problem hiking. Some of our favorites are the Beehive, Great Head Trail, Beechcroft, and the Gorge Trail. Go to acadiamagic.com to read about the different hikes and other activities.
Most of the shops will still be open along Main and Cottage Streets in Bar Harbor, along with many restaurants. My husband and I went to the Town Hill Bistro last night and it was delicious. We would highly recommend it. They will be open in the off season. Others include Galyn%26#39;s, Havana%26#39;s, and Guiness and Porcelli%26#39;s.
