Anniversary

We%26#39;ll be coming to Maine in October staying in York. I%26#39;m looking for a really nice restaurant to celebrate our 20th anniversary. Any ideas? Doesn%26#39;t have to be in York.

Thanks

Anniversary

We are actually mulling this over since it is our 30th anniversary late September. We had planned on Blue Sky, the new place in York, but the reviews are recently horrible. I think we have narrowed it down to Clay Hill Farm (an old time favorite of ours and great ambience/location) or Chapman Cottage (in a b%26amp;b near us and we have been meaning to try it). I think we are leaning towards Clay Hill as the setting is so beautiful....about 10 minutes out of York in the outskirts of Ogunquit.

Anniversary

The Cliff House in Ogunquit offers beautiful ocean views, excellent food and service.

If you%26#39;re looking for a romantic dinner, I agree with Clay Hill Farm.

We absolutely love the York Harbor Inn (restaurant upstairs for a nice dinner, pub downstairs for a relaxed meal). If you want to extend the ambiance of your evening, the York Harbor Inn is located across the street from a lovely ocean-front park where you can take a leisurely stroll either before of after dinner (depending on daylight).

We have not tried the Chapman Cottage yet, so cannot offer any comments.

Enjoy your time in Maine, and... Happy Anniversary!

We own just a couple minutes from York Harbor Inn and walk by there all the time....beautiful location! We were very disapointed the last time we ate there so not thinking of them. We actually did think of going to Cliff House for a special overnight but the reviews were so scathing there and it is so expensive, we are not taking a chance this year. I will comment after we go whereever we decide to go, on September 23rd, in time for the original poster to get the comments.

Thanks for all your help. Thurstonbb please post your experience when you get back. Happy anniversary to you too!

Will do! We are leaning towards Clay Hill Farm. The setting is so beautiful, very in the country with bird feeders all around...just beautiful. It is also only about 15 minutes from our place in York Harbor so convenient. I will post how it was after we go. We haven%26#39;t been there in a couple of years and places do go up and down in quality, but we have never to date been disapointed there.

Okay, thanks. I%26#39;ll look forward to your experience.

Just went last night for our 30th anniversary at Clay Hill Farm. We hadn%26#39;t been there in a couple years, but had gone MANY times in previous years. It was just wonderful! We went early so we could see the beautiful grounds and especially the birds at the feeders. The hostest knew it was our anniversary and gave us a very cozy corner seat overlooking the grounds. We started with escargot in puff pastry to share, then a spinach salad tossed with dried cranberries and pistachios, served with their own maple vinegerate. I had pork loin with a coarse mustard sauce and roasted potatoes. DH had prime rib with mashed potates. Both had green beans for a side. We shared a very decident chocolate cake with wonderful coffee. All service was excellent starting with the valet parking, and through to the end. The waitress even remembered me from previous visits! All and all we felt very pampered and special last night at the Clay Hill Farm.

Thurstonbb thanks for your review and congratulations. We have already made our reservations for our 28th anniversary Columbus Day Weekend. We have also been going to Clay Hill Farm for several years and have never been disappointed with our special occasion dinners there. msar1076 I would definitely recommend Clay Hill Farm. We love their spinach salad so much we always buy a bottle of the dressing to take home with us. We will be there on the 11th, is that when you will be there?. I also noticed we don%26#39;t live that far from you! We are staying in Ogunquit at the Beachmere Inn, it will be the first time we stay there.

Thanks for your post. I%26#39;ve been waiting for you to return. I am going to make my reservations for the 15th of October. My husband loves Maine. I am going along for the ride. We usually go to NH skiing with the kids. This time around we are going just us for our 20th anniversary. We are staying at the Inn at Tanglewood Hall. My first experience with a B%26amp;B. I%26#39;ll let you know how we liked it when I return on the 17th.
