I really wish people could be honest!!

My husband and I have been coming to Ogunquit for 15 years now! We have a home in Ogunquit and in Boston. We have tried just about every restaurant in town, and i am amazed at the reveiws some of you have given these places. I just find it hard to believe some of the things people write on here. Food being bad, service being bad, owners treating guests poorly, i just dont buy it. Most of the rewiews are from first time members just trying to make an example of the establishment because things didnt go quite there way, Then after a poor review is written you have a new review saying how excellent the place is, most probably from the owner. I took a lot time to go through all the reviews and you will see what i am talking about. This was brought to my attention at a bar in town where locals and the business owner were talking about it and it prompted me to check it out. Being a local, i personally know most of the business owners and they know of us. They are work very hard to keep their restaurant running smoothly and truly care about their guests. Maybe some reviews are not use to eating great food, or maybe use to eating in ';corporate'; / chain restaurants, where the littlest gripe gets you a free drink, dessert, or meal. what i want from people who are reading this is to first go to businesses because you want to try them, and not rely on what others have written, and second, that trippers will be a bit more honest in their rewiews. thank you

I couldn%26#39;t agree more. I live in the area and eat out frequently. I don%26#39;t post much but a read almost everything. All you have to do is look in the neighboring town of Wells at the restaurant reviews to see suspect activity. I think it is hard enough with the current economic climate to run a business without having to deal with fake reviews - both pro and con. Like I said just look in the neighboring town 3 of the top 4 restaurants are owned by the same guy and they all have a large number of positive reviews by one time posters that joined the same day. Granted I am sure some of them are true - but I think you just have to read the reviews and take them with a grain of salt.

i agree also, i look to see what people write when i am going on vacation, but i really dont make my decision based upon reviews. there a 2 sides to every story. and i agree that most of the restaurants that have poor reviews i have eaten at, like Provance, MC, Gypsies, Arrows, Angelina%26#39;s,Five-O

Katies, and Oarweed are all my favorites and never had any issues with them EVER!

I thought that the purpose of this site is for us to share our experiences with each other. Just because someone has a different experience or different opinion of an establishment then yours doesn%26#39;t make the reviewer ';dishonest'; and surely doesn%26#39;t set the stage for being insulting.

Steve, perhaps the better word would be ';objective';. I do think the original poster accurately observes that there are posters who really fly off the handle without regard to how their word could affect a business. And there do seem to be more of these rant-like posts from persons who have never posted before -- giving rise to concerns about motive.

there are too many ';rant-like posts'; from first time users. The point i am trying to make is give the restaurants a shot, because most of them are really really great. I also think that if somone had a bad experience they took it way to far in this post. what is that? Is it a way to get back at the business? There is saying, if you have a bad experience you will tell 10 people, if you have a great experience you will tell 2. Lets use this site to share your experience but not in way to get back at an establishment.
