My husband and I are planning a trip to BH July 2009.
We are trying to decide on where to stay. We would prefer a house as we like to cook and have 4 kids(10,8,8,3). I have been looking at a townhouse across from Village Green near ';Cafe This Way';.
Is anyone familiar with this area? Do you think it would be very noisy from buses etc? We were thinking ';in town'; is better for us because of proximity to everything.
Anyone have input on staying in town?
Thinking about staying in town near Village GreenPaflyfisher, who often contributes to this forum, stays every year at the Acadia Hotel, which is in that area---I%26#39;ve never heard him complain about noise. The in-town area has its advantages---as you have noted. You will be within walking distance of most restaurants and shops, and very close to the Island Explorer shuttle bus system---the terminal is on the north side of the Village Green.
If it is the IE buses that concern you: they are propane powered and less noisy than conventional buses. Moreover, although many of the routes do remain active into the evening, the total traffic is reduced.
Thinking about staying in town near Village GreenThanks for your help!
Hark, I hear my name!
Yes we stay at the Acadia Hotel which is right on Mt Desert Street across from the Village Green and around the corner from Cafe This Way (a great place for breakfast and dinner, by the way). Mt Desert Street (Rt 3) is a main road in town and gets its share of traffic. But as cw referenced, we have never found noise to be a problem when we visit which is either June or September. We will be staying at the Acadia Hotel again come June 2009.
I am not sure where the townhouse would be be but Cafe This Way is on a small dead end ';alleyway'; (for lack of a better term) off of Mt Desert Street. But I wouldn%26#39;t think of it as some back alley in Philly or anything like that. It is nice and CTW is a popular restaurant.
Hope this helps.
Thanks so much...We decided to go for it, we don%26#39;t think we%26#39;ll be spending alot of time in the house itself, and our kids are early-risers anyway. Now onto planning what we want to see/hike and bike!!
That%26#39;s the fun part.
