20th Wedding Anniversary trip-May instead of Sept/Oct

We have decided that we will need to take our trip in May or very early June instead of in the fall. Will most things be open in May. I did check out the weather and sounds like maybe the 50%26#39;s and 60%26#39;s, which would not be so bad. Will we have a good chance of lots of rain? This will likely be a once in a lifetime trip so trying very hard to make all the right choices :). Thanks, again!

Most restaurants and activities will be open at the end of May or early June. Seems most places are open by Mother%26#39;s Day weekend with a few exceptions. No worries. Your biggest obstacle might be rain since that is the rainy time in Maine. Last year we had a very nice Spring and rainy summer so I don%26#39;t have much advice for you regarding the weather.

Most lodging places increase their rates around Memorial Day so if you come the weekend before, you may find better deals on lodging.

Stay south, we%26#39;ve visited often in early June and the further north you go, the more still-boarded-up places you%26#39;ll see.

I don%26#39;t know where joesorce has traveled recently in downeast Maine, but by June these days, virtually everything on MDI is open---as lovingbarharbor has suggested.

We love May/June. Enough things are open in May; everything is open by June. If you go before Memorial Day rates on the hotels are great. Check out the Bar Harbor Inn. No crowds in the park. No traffic. Feels like you have the entire place to yourself. People have the time to stop and chat when you%26#39;re either in a shop or eating out. May can be a little cool; by June it%26#39;s perfection. Lupines, the quintessential Maine plant, bloom in June. You%26#39;ll have a wonderful time.

You should also consider staying in a bed and breakfast for your anniversary trip. It will be more personal and more romantic than a big hotel, although the Bar Harbor Inn is lovely and in a great central loction.

There are over 30 B%26amp;B%26#39;s in Bar Harbor and they all have something different to offer. Check out the website sleepbarharbor.com. You can search B%26amp;B%26#39;s by amenity to help narrow down your search.

Thank you all for the very helpful tips/advice!
