Hi, We will be travelling from Acadia to Boston in July, at the end of a month touring New England, taking one and a half days with one night stop somewhere.
There seems such a lot to see on that trip that we need to have just a few ideas of what to concentrate on and ideas of where to stay. The coastal scenery will be top of our list so we can have some walks or swim rather than visiting towns, but will be guided by any suggestions.I know Maine has some beautiful towns. We need to be back in Boston to fly home about 2pm.
Many thanks for any help you can give us, Ken and Chris
Acadia to Boston
Camden is worth at least 1/2 day. lunch, walk around the shops. We went from Boston to Acadia several years ago, and we spent the night at Brunswick (or was it New Brunswick)...been a while. Anyway we just need a stop over, and it served a purpose. Good luck planng. It%26#39;s beautiful up there.
Acadia to Boston
That would have been Brunswick. The Camden-Rockland area would be a good place to stop over. Like here on MDI, July in the that area is the busy season.
July will be busy but if you%26#39;re looking for scenery rather than towns I would suggest going over to see the Pemaquid lighthouse. It%26#39;s a beautiful area and amazing when the surf is high. I would also recommend Two Lights State Park just south of Portland. The shoreline there is stunning and very unique. The Penobscot Narrows Bridge/Observatory in Bucksport is a great place to stop. Gives you an amazing view plus you can visit Fort Knox.
Thanks for all your suggestions. Its great to get ideas from those of you in the know. I will spend a bit of time looking at our guidebooks for those places you have mentioned, so that I have it planned out before we go. Many thanks to you all, Ken and Chris
