I%26#39;m so glad to read the other posts and know I%26#39;m not the only
one who had the unfortunate experience of talking to the very rude woman who answers the phone.
I was calling York beach area hotels for reservations. The website for the Long Beach looked nice so, I gave them a call.
The woman answered the phone and I said '; I%26#39;d like to know what your availability is for Saturday night'; before I could finish she said in the rudest voice '; We don%26#39;t take reservations for one night '; Then she HUNG UP on me.
Later that day after not having much luck finding a place to stay I figured I%26#39;d call the Long Beach again to see if I could ask for a two night stay. I was hoping that the rude women%26#39;s shift was over and would maybe get someone who wouldn%26#39;t hang up on me. I was wrong.
The same women answered the phone. I tried in my nicest voice to ask for availability for Friday and Saturday. Before I could finish my sentence, the woman shouted '; You called before, cut it out! '; and hung up on me again. I called back
to ask for a manager as I was enraged. The phone would pick up but, the woman wouldn%26#39;t talk... I%26#39;m in shock. If this is the service I got from trying to make a reservation, I can%26#39;t imagine the nightmare of staying there.. BEWARE!
Long Beach Motor inn Beware !
I don%26#39;t think the Long Beach Motor Inn takes reservations from people that haven%26#39;t stayed there previously. We usually stay at the Anchorage Inn which is next door (which we love). It was booked, so I called to see if we could get one night at the Long Beach...basically she asked me if I had stayed there before and when I said no, she bluntly told me to stop by when I got to York and she would let me know if they had any avialability. When I asked for a rate, she hung up on me. It was a weird conversation and when I told my husband, he called to see if he could get more information...like a rate! Nothing...he got the same sort of weird response..';stop by and we%26#39;ll see what we can do for you.'; All I can think is this lady has been burned by having bad customers in the past and now is very choosey about who she lets stay there. We stopped by when we were in York and she looked us up and down and told us she had a room. When we told her there were 5 in our party (we had left the kids in the van) she looked like I had told her I had a disease. Then she said, that%26#39;s fine, how old? When I told her, she said, ok, they should enjoy our pool and shuffle board. It was all very weird, but I really think she just doesn%26#39;t want to deal with trouble. The grounds are lovely, but the rooms are dated and a little musty (probably from not being used, since I doubt the place is ever full). The bathrooms haven%26#39;t been updated since the 1960%26#39;s and the gold colored tile in the kinchentte area reminds me my mother%26#39;s autum gold and harvest green kitchen in the 1970%26#39;s. The location is perfect, directly across from the ocean. If you don%26#39;t plan to spend time in the room, and you don%26#39;t mind the weirdness of the booking process, it%26#39;s perfect.
Long Beach Motor inn Beware !
I also have been hung up on by the rude woman at the Long Beach Motor Inn. I was calling about out of town guests and she hung up on me because I was a local (caller ID) Then when I called back she hung up on me again. It%26#39;s funny they have cameras all over the property. Maybe they are fearful that someone will target the hotel and vandalize it because they are SO rude to so many people.
I stayed at the Long Beach Motor Inn for about a month, my wife and child also visited and stayed with me on visits, i found the rooms exceptionaly clean, Both the owner and her son where very curtious,very knowledgeable about the surronding area .and the security was above average, iwould reccomend anyone who wants to stay at the best motor inn on york beach to stay at the york beach motor inn.
I would gladly rate the long beach motor inn a 5 star rating, in all catagories.
This is a really weird but funny thread.
II must say I was not surprised to find the negative comments about the Long Beach Motor Inn. I had the most unpleasant experience of my 50-year-old life there this morning, and met the most hateful, vile woman I%26#39;ve ever had the displeasure of encountering. My mother and father have been summer residents of York since the early 1960%26#39;s, retiring there in the mid-nineties. My sister and I were traveling in two cars, taking my mother to the doctor since she was in ill health. My sister thought she might have left an important note on the kitchen table of my mother%26#39;s home up on the Nubble, so she pulled into the Inn, as it was the first driveway she saw, and I followed. We just stopped inside the driveway to find the paper, about 1 minute, and then thought we could turn around. It was one way so we started out to go around. A man came out with a pad of paper and started to write down my sister%26#39;s license plate number. He had put saw horses across the driveway so we couldn%26#39;t drive around and when I tried to turn around to get out, he stood in front of my car so I couldn%26#39;t move and started to write down my license plate number. I kept saying, ';Sir, is there a problem?'; but he kept ignoring me. He finally stepped aside and I started to drive out. There was a woman standing there waiting for me. I asked her if there was a problem, and she said, ';You%26#39;re the problem! What the hell do you think you%26#39;re doing in here?'; I was shocked and started to explain about the note, my mother, doctors, and she cut me off and said, ';If I ever see you in here again, I%26#39;m going to have you arrested, now get the hell out of here lady and never come back!'; No one in my entire life has ever spoken to me like that; I was shocked and so upset. I felt completely and unjustly harassed by this woman and this man. I replied, ';Life is too short to go through it being a nasty woman.'; My sister went by her after me with my 81-year-old mother next to her, and the woman just shouted at them, ';Get out and never come back!'; My sister told her to have a nice day. We wanted to call the police and report her for harassment. The person who said, ';Notice it%26#39;s the people who are not staying here writing these things.'; I don%26#39;t know about you, but it%26#39;s the ';locals'; opinions that I ask when I go to a new resort place for the best places to stay or eat. It does look lovely from the outside and I%26#39;ve always admired it while driving by, but now that I know who the owners are and how incredibly rude and nasty they are, it will never look the same to me. I DEFINITELY WOULD NOT recommend this place to stay. These people need to move on to another town so that York%26#39;s reputation of wonderful hospitality and friendliness can live on.
You know the saying, ';Whatever goes around, comes around.';
The owners of the Inn will some day get what they gave. Good luck.
