A group of neighbors and friends were invited to a reception and tasting at the new Augustine%26#39;s, which opened at the end of September. Full disclosure: Augustine lives across the street and I think he and his wife are great people.
We tasted most of the dishes that were on the menu that night, including: lamb stew with bread pudding, butternut squash gratin, Jamaican jerk chicken, beef carpaccio, sauteed shrimp, pork loin, and several other items. Everything was delicious. Probably the most popular dish was the lamb stew. The space is attractive, especially the bar.
One thing that I think will be a challenge is that it%26#39;s a little tricky to get to the Captain Daniel Stone Inn (10 Water Street). You see it as big as life as you go by on Route 1, but you have to go beyond it and circle back and approach it though in-town Brunswick.
Other info: Augustine also owns and operates Augustine%26#39;s in Damariscotta. The operation of the Captain Daniel Stone Inn is separate from the restaurant. The phone number of the Brunswick restaurant is (207) 725-7721.
If you%26#39;re looking for dining in Brunswick, I would definitely recommend putting Augustine%26#39;s on your list.
