weather in Maine

I am thinking about going to Maine in Mid May or early June trying to stay in shoulder season. Can anyone tell me what the weather is like? I plan on going to Oconquit, Camden, Deer Isle and Bar Harbor. Any input is much appreciated

A good reference is:

then enter the location and dates that interest you.

Generally, for this area (Bar Harbor, MDI, Deer Isle), early June might be more to your liking than would mid-May.

thanks for the website and your help. We will probably try to go around may 23 since the weather does not seem to change even going the next week and we still get low season rates.,

Hi queenie75...

There is a saying we use a lot and it is ';If you don%26#39;t like the weather, wait a few minutes.'; We do not have a reliable set of circumstances to pin your hopes on for good weather. The spring rains are usually gone by then, but the black flies may still be around. Late May and early June can still see some cold and chilly temps., though the daytime is generally fair and reasonable no matter what. Be prepared and pack a jacket, perhaps that will be all it takes to ensure that your vacation weather cooperates.. and if not, at least you will be ready for it!

Hey Queenie,

We are annual visitors to Bar Harbor/Acadia and until last year, we always visited in September. Last year, for the first time with scheduled our vacation in mid-June. I must say that even in mid-June we still got the early season rates at the place we stay. In-season rates did not begin until the weekend we departed (in the 20s of June).

Weather that time of year can be iffy. I think there was fog on 7 of the 9 days we were there. And there was more rain than we were used to in September. But you know what? We managed to work around the weather elements just fine. I will also point out that the week before we arrived was stunningly beautiful right through the weekend we got there. So you take your chances.

Did it discourage us? Quite the contrary. This year we visit a week earlier in June and will stay nearly a week longer.

Personally I think you might be better off a week or two later and visiting in June but that%26#39;s your call.

Whenever you choose to visit, ENJOY!

thank you for the info.

the first time we went we went in late september and it was wonderful. this year we are coming may 23-30. Maine is so beautiful that I can take the cool weather, could do w/o rain and hpoefully fog will burn off. I know we will have a good time no matter what.
