Hi Guys!
In June, my wife and I will visit Bar Harbor and are interested in lodging. Our preference would be something fairly priced, 3 star type rating or above, with some local ';flavor';. Last year we stayed on the water in Boothbay (Rocktide)and loved the sunny afternoons strolling through the village and lounging on the waterfront. Ice cream, ball caps, tshirts, munchies, and coffee at the local shops was so much fun. Can we duplicate this experience in Bar Harbor? If so, where do we stay? I%26#39;ve checked out the Bar Harbor Inn...looks great but perhaps a little pricey. Sure would appreciate any input you can offer. CoolRay

For something with more local flavor, I would suggest staying at a bed and breakfast. You can check out sleepbarharbor.com for a listing of most of the B%26amp;B%26#39;s in Bar Harbor. You can search by amenity and then check the availability all on the same website.
Most of the B%26amp;B%26#39;s are within walking distance of the downtown area and the ones that aren%26#39;t are within a couple of miles.
As for hotels on the water, the only ones that are in the village area of Bar Harbor are the Bar Harbor Inn and the Harborside Hotel, both of which are fairly expensive. The hotels located on the water right outside of town might have better rates - Atlantic Oakes or Bar Harbor Regency.

Also consider SWHarbor as well.
Finding hotels on the water in Bar Harbor is very tricky since it%26#39;s a rocky coast and not beach. Do look into B%26amp;B%26#39;s in downtown Bar Harbor as alternate accommodation. Anything near the town green will be walking distance to Bar Harbor shopping/restaurants.
Southwest Harbor is a good alternative as mentioned. It%26#39;s on the sea side of the island, versus Bar Harbor is on the inland side.
No matter where you stay in the Acadia area you%26#39;ll want to drive around to see the best of everything. Enjoy your trip planning!
Bar Harbor is waterfront as well as Southwest Harbor. As lovingbarharbor mentioned there are a few waterfront hotels in Bar Harbor and there are also a few waterfront B%26amp;B%26#39;s. Saltair is definitley on the water and is a beautiful B%26amp;B in town Bar Harbor. There is also Bay Ledge which is out of town, you would have to drive in from there (as opposed to Saltair which you can walk anywhere in town to). The best thing about Bar Harbor is that we also have beautiful Acadia National Park which adds a whole new aspect to your visit to Bar Harbor. So come to Bar Harbor and have a great time no matter where you pick to stay...it is a beautiful area.
