Hi NBSI I have no idea how far you care to travel or if you had a specific area in mind but I thought I would throw out one possibility. I have no affiliation with this property and have never stayed there but it is in my area and I remember meeting a family that said they had rented this property for a large family reunion. I%26#39;m guessing renting the whole property would be quite expensive and it may already be booked up for this summer but again just one possibility for you. This is in far downeast Maine and to be honest is in a rural area. If you want a place to just relax and let the kids run and play this would be good but if you want the beach and attractions it would not.

I%26#39;ve also been interested in renting a jumbo-sized house for a family reunion. Check cyberrentals and after you click on Maine, scroll along the left hand border and under ';sleeps'; chose ';sleeps 13 or more.'; There are several, but most are lakefront.

I know I saw one on VRBO.com on Bailey Island in Maine ... it was oceanfront and looked fanatstic. But search the Acadia area on that site, too, and you might have luck. Just bear in mind, on this site, you have to sort by # it sleeps, but it%26#39;s organized by town. So Bangor, for example, might have a ';sleeps 10'; as its biggest rental, but Orland might have ';sleeps 20'; as its biggest. Be patient! Ha! Found one, here it is:

There are more where that came from ... again, check the sites, sort by # of bedrooms or # it sleeps and go from there. Good luck.

Did you post in the Boothbay Harbor forum because you are hoping to find something in Boothbay Harbor? In your post you just said ';Maine.';

If you are open to other area, Maine has lots of grand old houses that will accommodate a group of your size. I think your chances would be best in the Acadia National Park area. Check out the LS Robinson Real Estate website at http://www.lsrobinson.com/rentals/search/ They have several properties that are large enough to accommodate you.

In the Camden area check out http://martinsvillemaine.com/

Kennebunk/Kennebunkport will probably also have houses of that size. Other areas to look in include Biddeford Pool, Scarborough/Prouts Neck, Harpswell, Sorrento, Winter Harbor, and Hancock. Really, anywhere along Maine%26#39;s 3000+ mile coastline might have a place for you.

Lots of folks list with http://www.cyberrentals.com/ but I find http://www.vrbo.com easier to use because vrbo will let you sort by # of people it will sleep, so that should help.

I%26#39;m guessing that something that large will probably be listed with a real estate agency. So, your best bet is to check out agencies in the areas that interest you.

If you are set on the BBH area, this won%26#39;t be of much help, but if you want to go farther DOWNEAST try www.heartsofmaine.com I have rented from them before and I know they have some very large rentals.

Consider alternatives to renting a relatively scarce, remote, and expensive jumbo cottage - rent a current or former family compound or several adjacent cottages. Combining desirable adjacent vacation rental properties may require using more than one Realtor.

This approach can produce a moving party with variety and perhaps greater amenities for the whole group. Exchange cottage bedrooms mid week with fellow group members. No one has to get stuck in a bedroom formerly assigned to 1890%26#39;s domestic staff.

Preplan the bathroom situation carefully and avoid risk of catastrophic group impact from an unexpected major plumbing failure in a single large old cottage. Any TV junkies? How many TV%26#39;s and who is watching what? Remember sound travels in older buildings. Need a break? Go next door. Any Internet access?

Imagine the fun - dinner for everyone or for a group subsets in the traditional larger Maine cottage one night followed by dinner for everyone on the deck of a converted seaside boathouse the next night. Everybody gets access to the water but part of the group pays lower rates reflecting market realities.

No idea where to start? What follows is just an example. Google and Yahoo ';Maine Stay'; + ';Boothbay Harbor';, a vacation rental within walking distance of the town center and Barrett%26#39;s park. To find suitable nearby rental cottages, search using terms ';Boothbay Harbor'; + ';Lobster Cove'; + ';vacation rental'; again using quotes. You can try the same basic technique throughout the region.

By being creative, you can bring a large group within walking distance to town center while enhancing the group%26#39;s experience with immediate proximity to the sea at your vacation rentals. You can also lower the risk of equipment failure with multiple cottages. Remember that drip coffee makers do break. Also make certain you have adequate off-street parking for all your vehicles.

I hope you all have a great time in this little bit of heaven, Boothbay Harbor.

I organized a family reunion for 20 with the Oceanside Meadows Inn on the Schoodic Penninsula. It was wonderful! They have an old captain%26#39;s house and a farmhouse right next to it. We filled the farmhouse and most of the other house. They provided breakfast each day and the farmhouse had a complete kitchen, which we used.

I planned kayaking trips, whale watching, lobster dinners, and the ocean is right across the street. This was several years ago- actually 8!- and I don%26#39;t know whether all the area has changed, but it was perfect.

From my 80 year old father to my 8 month old son and all the others between, we all enjoyed it.

Good luck!

Ali
