Hello...Floridians planning a trip to Boston in Mid December...we want to take a overnight trip to coast of Maine...any suggestions...most just want to take in the sights...2 adults 2 young adults...maybe a bed and breakfast??
One night stay from Boston on Maine coast
December is pretty sleepy on the coast. Inn By the Sea in Cape Elizabeth comes to mind, you%26#39;d be close to the city of Portland, and not a bad drive to LL Bean/Freeport outlets.

York is an easy drive from Boston. We have a place there and it is less than 1-1/2 hours drive from Boston. It has been very cold and probably still will be! Inn at Tanglewood Hall and York Harbor Inn are both great b%26amp;b places. Walking the beaches, cliff walk, etc are always great, espceially for such a short trip. The Anchorage in York across from Long Sands Beach is great too and they do cater to families. They have indoor pools - yes plural! They also have a few suite type rooms configurations.
A previous response mentioned Inn by the Sea in Cape Elizabeth - which is a very nice, and usually rather expensive inn on the water. I just got one of my regular travel deals emails and there is a winter special - $129 a night for a room, with a fireplace even!

Cape Elizabeth is about 2 hours from Boston. You could visit beaches, Portland Headlight and Portland in a matter of minutes. If you want to do some shopping, Freeport is about a half hour away.
Our favorite Maine town, close to Boston, is Kennebunkport. It%26#39;s a picturesque small town, with nice shops and restaurants. We were just there in Oct. and stayed at the Yachtman%26#39;s Inn. Should be very pretty in winter. It is featured as one of the 10 best Christmas towns, this Dec. 7th, on HGTV.

Hello Floridian!
I recommend coming up to Portland for an overnight. The Old Port is the historic downtown and it%26#39;s got great shops/food. The beaches/Portland Head Light are close and worth a trip. Kennebunkport is nice as well, just smaller. It is very quaint, though. Kennebunkport is a tad closer, but not by much! May I recommend coming up to Portland, staying in Cape (at the Inn by the Sea, if you can get a good rate.... nice and right on the boast) or the Portland Harbor Hotel (downtown Portland), taking in the sights for a night, and grabbing a bite to eat at 555 ($$$$, creative american cuisine), Local 188 ($$$, tapas style, as well as full meals), Ribollita (italian, small, quaint, $$-$$$), or any of the other AMAZING restaurants in Portland!
ENJOY!
