Swimming in Great Pond

Curious if water temps in Great Pond (Franklin/Ellsworth) during late June - early July are very cold for the ';typical'; person to swim.

I would say yes the water will still be quite cold. The weather just starts warming up in Maine generally in June with mid 60s-low 70%26#39;s. This does not heat up the lake water very fast. Saying this it really does depend on how you are with cold. I%26#39;m sure you will see people swimming during this time, especially with the fourth of July holiday. Have you been to Maine before and swam in the ocean? If you didn%26#39;t mind that you will have to problem with lake water in late June. The ocean is what I would call too cold for the ';typical person'; even through most of the summer.

Thank you...I%26#39;ve been to Maine before but don%26#39;t think I went in the water. I ended up reserving a place for June/July..had thought about mid-August for warmer temps and for better viewing of the Pelseids meteor showers, but decided we didn%26#39;t want to wait all summer for our vacation. Considering my kids will go in our pool in May and Oct (CT), I guess we%26#39;ll survive the lake water.

Thanks again for the heads up.
