I%26#39;m just wondering if there%26#39;s a lot of activity on the beach in late June (week before 4th of July week)? I know what it%26#39;s like in the high summer season but it looks like we%26#39;ll be there a little earlier this year - is the beach as crowded as it is in late July/August or is it deserted or somewhere in between? I%26#39;m sure the water will be cold but that I don%26#39;t mind since I don%26#39;t usually go in much past my ankles or knees anyway.
What's the beach like in June?
dex... You can expect that if the weather is hot... the beach will be crowded. Our season is so short up here so when the weather is nice and the kids are out of school... people flock to the beach. I don%26#39;t know as it would be quite as horrific as the 4th of July can be, but you can expect it to surely be busy. School is due to get out (depending on snow days accumulated) sometime before the 19th of June.

Dexter,
Just to offer a secondary opinion - having grown up in Maine and moved ';away'; - I would say that the beaches in Southern Maine aren%26#39;t very crowded at all any time of the year. It depends what you%26#39;re used to, I suppose. Relative to a lot of other places, the beaches are quite comfortably populated. The busiest times are July 4 - Labor Day. It won%26#39;t be deserted, but you%26#39;ll have plenty of room.
In late June, it could very well be nice weather, but I would never characterize the weather as ';hot'; by US standards. You%26#39;re highs are likely to be anywhere between 68 and 80 with a breeze. If you%26#39;re used to the Jersey shore in the summer, it%26#39;ll be cool. And yes, the water will be cold.
Enjoy, it%26#39;s a beautiful area.
dex... pisco08 is correct about the amount of people and the room you will have on the beach...
The main problem we have is parking... at least at the places we go... Reid State Park, Popham Beach, Crescent beach... they only allow so many people in and then close the parking lots. I don%26#39;t expect that you will have much trouble with the time frame you are talking about, but as I said, if it is an unusually nice, hot, sunny day... you never know...
