My new wife and I first visited Bar Harbor five years ago and we fell in love with it immediately. The scenery is amazing, the town is the perfect size and has a Main Street that everybody longs for, the weather is not too hot or too cold from April through October, and the people are the nicest I%26#39;ve ever met. That%26#39;s why we%26#39;ve visited many times since, including four times in the past year.
We have dreamt for years to have our wedding in the town, and to somehow get our immediate families there so that they can enjoy the same magic that we always did. Well, I%26#39;m happy to report that last month we achieved that goal.
We rented out a 3.5 million dollar mansion overlooking the harbor and had all of our immediate families stay with us for the week (we went to Maui for two weeks afterward by ourselves so we did get alone time later). I don%26#39;t want to sound like Mr. Moneybags because, the truth is, the final price of the wedding would have been more if we had a few hundred people locally. But why do that when you can have the time of your life with those closest to us?
The mansion, named Seascape, was amazing and worth every penny. We felt like millionaires, if only for a week. We found out at the end of the stay that the house was sold so unfortunately we will probably never get to go back, but that%26#39;s okay. We have many photos to remember it all.
And as always, the people of Bar Harbor were great. The ceremony was supposed to be at the Bar Harbor Inn but rain forced us to have it on the huge covered deck at Seascape instead. And the people at the inn and our vendors were amazing with how easily they adapted, literally at the last minute. If anybody ever wants to get married in the town, you will be happy to know that the local vendors we had couldn%26#39;t have been more amazing. That includes the Bar Harbor Inn where were we held our reception.
Bottom line, they say home is where the heart is. I grew up in PA and currently live in Manhattan, but my heart will always be in Bar Harbor. It%26#39;s where I find myself most at peace and it%26#39;s where I married my true love. And I can%26#39;t thank Bar Harbor, and those there who helped us, enough for making our dreams come true.
Can't thank Bar Harbor enough
I%26#39;m so happy to hear how much you and your wife enjoyed Bar Harbor. We are also from NYC (Astoria) and have been going to Bar Harbor every year for a long time. This year was the first time that my wife and I got the chance to go twice! Autumn in Acadia is beautiful - the colors and the cooler weather can%26#39;t be beat! What makes it all the better for us is that we need not fly to get there from NYC. We drive and take in the sights in between. Maybe we%26#39;ll see you there one year!
