We are planning a trip to Boothbay for the Fisherman%26#39;s festival and would like to stay in a cottage or cabin. Any recommendations? I tried to book something on several sites, but all showed availability beginning in May, but nothing in April.
Does anyone know of a good rental?

Did you look on cottageconnection.com? I just saw some on there with dates available for April.

Hi Fisherman100,
Definitely try the cottage connection as CB48 suggested. If there%26#39;s nothing available check out www.boothbayharbor.com, the Chamber%26#39;s site and they may know about something. You could also check the Boothbay Register online which is the local newspaper. They may have weekly rental%26#39;s listed also.
April is a tough time of year to rent as many cottages are on seasonal water and often that%26#39;s not turned on till May 1st or even later. It is also the time when cottage owners do spring cleaning, make repairs and get ready for the summer and they%26#39;re less likely to rent out.
If you don%26#39;t have any luck with looking for a cottage/condo rental, the following accomodations are open: Tugboat Inn (motel)which is right on the water downtown; Admiral%26#39;s Quarters (B%26amp;B), also in town across the street from the water; Greenleaf Inn (B%26amp;B in town across from the water) and the Flagship Inn (motel)which is located just before you enter downtown and a short drive or 15 minute walk into town where most of the activities take place.
Again if you check the Chamber%26#39;s site they%26#39;ll have additional listings of places that will be open. Also upon arriving, pick up a copy of the Boothbay Register which usually has a pull out magazine which lists all the activities, dates, times and locations of the happenings for the Festival.
Good luck and have fun. The Fishermens%26#39; Festival is a blast. If you get the chance stop by the Boothbay Region Art Foundation%26#39;s art gallery at 1 Townsend Ave. right in town (across from Sherman%26#39;s Books) and check out ';Fishermen%26#39;s Festival: A Photographic Journey'; which is an exhibit documenting in pictures many of the Festivals of the past :).

Thanks so much. We have a reservation now and look forward to the festival!
For the benefit of others interested in renting a cottage preseason, check out www.craigslist.org for Maine and Vacation Rentals. This is also a good source for cottages in season.
Thanks everyone for the suggestions. If I might add one more - homeaway.com. I recently used that sight to reserve a cottage on Westport Island, but there are some other locations available as well.
