Which hotel is best

Will be in Bangor for about a week and wondering about lodging. Anyone have a good recommmendation? Reasonable, clean, comfortable and quiet.

Which hotel is best

Bangor is not your typical Maine vacation destination, so it%26#39;s not teaming with the normal Maine lodging choices.

You%26#39;ll find it most convenient to be at one of the motels near the Bangor Mall, not one of the motels near the airport. Look into the Country Inn at the Mall. http://www.countryinnatthemall.net/

Which hotel is best

Giggy, what will you be doing, where will you be going and what level of service are you normally comfortable with. If you answer some of those and what is most important, I can better guide you.

Need to use Bangor as a home base for several days of sightseeing. Would love, love, love a cabin or cottage but would be happy with a motel that is at the level of a Hampton Inn or Country Inn and Suites.

There is a Hampton Inn at the Mall.

And, if most of your sightseeing is south of Bangor, consider the Lucerne Inn, in Lucerne, which is roughly halfway between Bangor and Ellsworth. See http://lucerneinn.com/

There is both comfort and a country Inn near the mall area. The Country Inn is definitely in a quieter situation. Slightly north of bangor is the Academic Inn and Suites in Orono. Depending on time of year, there are camps and homes for rent by the week on both Pushaw Lake, Phillips (most people call lucerne) and also Green Lake. Pushaw Lake is accessible via, Old Town, Hudson, Glenburn and Orono. Phillips is off 1A south of Bangor and Green Lake is further south off 1a. There are cabins available on Pushaw in Orono at a campground during the season. Campground is ';Pushaw Lake Campground';.

Hope these options are helpful.

Grateful for the help you all are giving. LOVE the idea of a cabin or house rental and will check that as well.

Orono is a sweet little town, but the University Inn Academic Inn and Suites have gotten some really mixed reviews in the past. Read them over in the lefthand column. I wish we had some reviews post-2007 renovations.

Skip the Orono action and go for the lake rental on Rte 1a...that way you can hit the coast(close)..and stay in a NICE place : )

If you are looking for a camp on a lake, try Green Lake, Pushaw and Phillips (lucerne)

How about the Lucerne Inn?

Would help if you tell us exactly what ';sightseeing'; you plan to do. Bangor as a base? Not seeing that idea at all.
